Employees’ statutory training entitlement

Article 131 of the Portuguese Labour Code generally provides for 40 hours per year. For fixed-term contracts lasting at least three months, the minimum is proportional to the contract’s duration in that year.

What to check in your case

We separate hours due, completed and allocated to earlier years. We check certificates, attendance and any lawful advance allocation or deferral. A training quotation alone does not show that an employee attended.

Documents for your defence

Full notice or decision, front and back, and evidence of the date of service.

  • Training plan and start dates for the employees concerned
